Domain Settings
This topic describes the dashboard domain settings view. This view is used to configure domains associated with your ArchiTECH web site.
The domain settings view is accessible from the dashboard navigation tree under Site Settings. This view allows you to:
- Modify the list of domain associated with your site
- Choose a primary domain used when redirecting requests
- Choose which domains will and will not be indexed by search engine "crawlers"
Regardless of the domain entries, you add to this list, you must also configure your domain settings with your DNS provider to point to the ArchiTECH service and to have an SSL Certificate available. ArchiTECH support personnel can assist you with this configuration.
Primary Domain
The primary domain is where the ArchiTECH service will redirect requests for your website content. For example, if a request arrives on the your-site.com domain the browser will be redirected to the same page on the www.your-site.com domain, You may only have one primary domain per site. If you choose to have no primary domain, requests will not be redirected.
Click the Yes/No entry in the Primary Domain column to change the setting for that domain.
Hide From Search Engines
This setting allows you to determine whether the domain should be scanned or ignored by search engine "crawlers". By default domains are visible to search engines, however, there are times when you may wish to prevent a search engine from displaying results for a specific domain. Changing this setting may take several hours to be recognized by various search engines.
Click the Yes/No entry in the Hide From Search Engines column to change the setting for that domain.
Website Alias
Each ArchiTECH website has a unique "alias" that differentiates it from other sites on the service. When editing your site, your browser will use this alias as a sub-domain. For example, a web site that uses your-site as an alias would use your-site.builtforyou.com as the domain when in edit mode. If a browser that is not in edit mode requests your sub-domain (or when you log out) the browser will redirect to your primary domain.
